Giselle's background includes classical piano training during childhood, degrees in biology and botany, years of French classes, and an expanding repertoire of jazz, blues, and French songs from the 1940s-1960s.
The Mississippi River CD includes well-loved songs long-associated with the river, as well as pieces by contemporary composers inspired by those classics. The complete river map and short stories about each of the 21 songs reflect her career experience working on river issues in 10 states along the river. She first performed the songs at the national meeting of the Mississippi River Parkway Commission in Redwing, MN in 2009, where she was also a keynote speaker. The CD is all live recordings on her piano in early 2010, before moving to New Orleans from Minneapolis.
Her French Songs of Love & Longing CD is a demo of five songs with various tempos and meanings. These were recorded in 2013 in Pete Wolbrette's studio in New Orleans, following performances for the Trinity Artist Series and at L'Union Francaise.
